Brandon Club House on 11th Street and Princess Avenue

Stopped at Downtown Brandon on the corner of Princess Ave and 11th Street and spent two hours painting there from 10am to 12 pm. Had to finish it within two hours as the parking meter there dictates so.

Under the parairie sky ---- aothe view from the first street bridge of Brandon

It was a very hot day today.  Standing again on the first street bridge painting, I struggled with the strong glaring sunlight and the noon hour heat.

the ending of a tree on our front yard

We had to cut down the ash tree on our front yard due to the damage from last week's storm. I have painted our front yard so many times with the tree at its center over the past ten years. This morning amid swarms of tiny flies and mosquito, I painted this quick oil sketch of the remaining of the ash tree before it is totally gone.

Crew working over the roof of a garage early in the morning on Balmoral Bay

Cleaning up continue after the severe storm that hit Balmoral Bay a week ago. A crew came early in the morning to climb up to the roof top of Dan's garage to cut down the remaining of the trees that were ravaged by last week's storm. The landscape, which had served as a source of inspiration for my daily plein air painting for the past 10 years, of our beloved Balmoral Bay neighborhood has forever changed with so many trees uprooted and destroyed by the storm. A half an hour quick oil sketch from my backyard early in the morning to mark the occasion.

Another point of view from first street bridge of Brandon

After a quick lunch break I came back to the bridge to paint again with a 24" x 30" canvas. The wind was so strong that I had to use my left hand to hold down my easel all the time to keep it from being blown away.

Brandon skyline with the mighty Assiniboine River viewed from the first street bridge of Brandon

The first street was blocked for traffic due to flooding which provides me with a rare opportunity to paint this view standing on the First Street Bridge to view Brandon skyline flanked by the mighty Assiniboine River.

The aftermath of a severe summer storm

Saturday night's severe storm left a trail of destruction in our neighborhood. A big tree fell crashing through our hedges.

A sweeping view of Rapid City Valley

It is one of the most memorable painting experiences as the view of the valley unfolds in front of me in the morning.
