A path in the park

The sky turned cloudy when I started the third painting for the day. The quiet path  flanked by big elm trees turning vibrant yellow is a sight unforgeable at this time of the year.

A glimpse of the Clear Lake from the 9th hole of the golf course

It always excites me to paint from this particular location on  Clear Lake Golf Course. With the full fall colour in sight , it is such a visual feast to paint here now.

An early morning view of Clear Lake from the Golf Course

Came to Clear Lake early in the morning to paint this view when the lake seemed to have remained in the slumber of night.

Harvest moon

Using a flash light , painted the view of full moon in the sky at 10 p.m. foiled by the warm street light.

sunset moment from our backyard

Trying to capture the moment after sunset when the last ray of sunlight hit the small ash tree behind the hedges.

Painting on Culture Day in Princess Park of Brandon

As part of Culture Day activities, I set up my easel painting in Princess Park of Brandon trying to capture the moment when Kevin Conlin , the well known ceramic artist was doing a  demonstration on site with people gathering and watching.

Early in the morning from our front yard

Painting  from our front yard early in the morning when the light hit the foliage of the trees turning golden yellow is such a delicious experience.

A glimpse of Balmoral Bay on this beautiful early  Saturday afternoon was brushed onto my canvas.

A glimpse over the hedges in the morning

O the colour of the foliage of the trees and brushes over the hedges on this beautiful sunny Saturday morning  at this time of the year!

At the end of the day when dark clouds start to gather in the sky , the two trees there look exceptionally yellow against the dark mass of the clouds.

Roses for my wife on her 50th birthday

Painted this bouquet of roses on my wife's 50th birthday today after Maureen , our next door neighbour dropped by with her birthday present for my wife, two chirping birds which I set on the table with the roses to be included in this oil painting to mark the occasion.

A view of Christian Reformed Church of Brandon

Came to paint a view of this church early Sunday morning when it was still quite cloudy. However, as I anticipated, the sun broke out of the clouds an hour later while people one after another came to attend Sunday service in the church.

Aspen wood on lake Katherine in early fall

After the first painting, I took a break for lunch , and started to paint the aspen wood on the lake.

O, Lake Katherine Again!

Drove straight to Lake Katherine on Saturday morning where  the crystal clear blue sky and mirror like surface of the lake merge into an absolute serenity broken only occasionally by the dashing and skipping of the loom with its hunting and a bit melancholy song. I lose no time setting up my easel painting to my heart content while Ping, my wife finds a comfortable spot  on top of a picnic table reading quietly.

Backyard -- my sanctuary

I painted this view of our backyard in the afternoon totally losing myself in the tranquil and warm  sunny moment of a beautiful autumn afternoon where time stood still , where personal worries and feeling of uncertainties about future suddenly melted away in the warm wash of sunshine.

Sunny Sunday morning from our patio

A glimpse of Down-town Brandon at 8th Street

There is a particular quality of light at this time of the day at the start of the fall season which words fail to describe. However I can definitely feel it when I stand close to the corner of 8Th Street and Princess Avenue at 3 p.m starting this one hour long oil sketch.

Noon hour at our backyard

The trees are changing colour for the season. Another quick oil sketch at noon from our backyard.

End of the summer season at Clear Lake - from the last long weekend of the summer

Hope this is the view of the lake most people will leave the lake with at the end of the summer. I struggled against wind and occasional rain to paint this view to mark the end of the summer season.

Moon Lake of Riding Mountain National Park

Have not been to Moon Lake for many years, and have never painted on this location yet. Decided to drive all the way to the lake to paint this morning. The sun broke out of the clouds only briefly to lit up the sky a bit. There was a red canoe sitting quietly at the foot of a spruce, and of course the ubiquitous outdoor fire pit for barbecue.
